Don't be fooled into thinking you can't put together a beautiful dessert table when the weather is hot. Summer days call for cool treats, but also anything with fresh berries. Here are some of my favorite red, white and/or blue 4th of July desserts.
I had the most delightful conversation with Todd Schulkin from the Julia Child Foundation on the Inside Julia's Kitchen podcast. We talked about cake, my early obsession with meringue (thanks to Julia) and of course my favorite kitchen tool ~ the Blowtorch!
As is the case with all chefs, my views of cooking and teaching were shaped by Julia Child, so it was a true honor to be invited into a conversation about how she formed so much of my baking adventure and introduced me to so many of the bakers I admire most.
