What To Bake This Weekend
It's all about rhubarb! Plus, don't forget to make blueberry scones + I share some handy equipment recommendations.

It’s rhubarb season! Even in Minnesota we’ve had a nice stretch of warm weather that has this early season plant thriving. Here are my favorite ways to use rhubarb:
You can jump straight to my list of 10 favorite rhubarb desserts to choose your favorite.
Or start with my simple roasted rhubarb as a base for all kinds of treats.
If you want a classic, try my strawberry rhubarb pie. Bonus points if you can hold off on this one until you get some fresh strawberries. Or make it now so you can perfect it in time for strawberry season.
If you’ve recently made one of my recipes, please be sure to leave a ***** rating and review!
Blueberry Scones
You still have time to make Blueberry Scones for this month’s Baking Challenge. It’s a perfect recipe for any spring or early summer brunch get togethers. There’s also a video to show you just how easy it is to make them.
Here are a few essential tools for baking pies and scones. Nothing fancy or expensive, just handy.
Dough Blender - I remember when my son, Charlie, was making scones for the first time and the recipe called for a dough blender and he assumed it was the blender we make smoothies in. It was a fair assumption but the two tools couldn’t be more different. A dough blender is a great way to cut the butter into flour without warming the butter with your hands. Macy’s | Target
Bench Scraper - This is an excellent tool that helps keep your bench (counter) neat by scraping up stuck dough or loose flour. I also use it to fold and gather dough as I am making it and cut dough into portions. It’s one of the most useful tools in the kitchen. Target | Amazon
Pie plates - I like a pretty pie plate because they are both baking vessel and serving dish. I use both ceramic and metal but not usually glass, because it doesn’t conduct heat very well and I never get a crisp bottom crust. Ceramic | Steel
